Six Indians jailed for trespass with arms
Six Indian nationals were sentenced to ten years' jail yesterday for trespass with arms.
Special Tribunal Judge MM Badrul Islam handed down the punishment to Shambhu, Mohiswar, Urarao, Jibon, Harkumar and Khandou. All in their early 20s they came from Assam, and activists of Democratic Front of Bodoland, a secessionist party of Indian state of Assam.
Prosecution said BDR arrested the young rebels from the house of one Imrul Sangma at Burunga border village of Nalitabari upazila on March 2 in 2007. On their confessional statement, a large quantity of automatic weapons, ammunition and explosives were unearthed from near the house.
Pleading not guilty the rebels said they belonged to Democratic Front of Bodoland of Assam.
