Insult to injury
Australia were on Tuesday fined for a slow over-rate during their six-wicket loss to Sri Lanka during the Group C match in the World Twenty20 at Trent Bridge on Monday.
Match referee Chris Broad imposed the fines after Ricky Ponting's side were ruled to be one over short of their target at the end of the Sri Lanka innings when time allowances were taken into consideration.
"In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing over-rate penalties, players are fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount," said an ICC statement.
Ponting was fined 10 per cent of his match fee while his players received five per cent fines.
