Mukti, Abahani into semis
A full-strength Mukti Sangha crushed Chandpur's Guakhola by seven wickets to move into the semifinal of the National Club Cup cricket tournament at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Opting to bat first in the quarterfinal, Guakhola were up against it from the word go and were duly bowled out for just 124 in 46.2 overs.
Sanjamul Islam and Kamrul Hasan picked up three wickets while there was one each for Mohammad Shahjada, Mukta Kumar and Rezaul Karim.
Left-handed opener Tonu Ghosh smacked four boundaries in a patient 68-ball 51 that saw the Rajshahi side home.
Abahani Mymensingh also entered the last four after they defeated Boyra Tarun Sangha of Khulna by three wickets at the BKSP ground in the other quarterfinal. Batting first, Boyra were bowled out for 136 in the 49th over before Abahani reached the target in 48.4 overs.
Abahani and Mukti Sangha join National Cricket Club of Nilphamari and Barisal's Nazrul Pathagar in the semifinals.
