Removal of principal demand
Teachers and staffs staged a demonstration at Ispahani School and College in the capital yesterday demanding removal of the principal for her alleged involvement in irregularities.
Around 60 teachers and several staffs continued their sit-in on the college compound at Maghbazar for the third consecutive day yesterday.
They also vowed to continue their demonstration until the removal of Principal Rafika Afroz.
The teachers brought allegations of misappropriation of Tk 10 crore funds against the principal.
They also alleged that she was appointed through irregularities.
The teachers filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka, sources said, adding that the complaint contains 49 allegations against the principal.
The teachers and staff have been staging sit-in from 8:00am to 2:00pm daily. They also informed the local lawmaker of the irregularities.
Lawmaker Asaduzzaman assured them of looking into the matter, they said.
When contacted, Principal Afroz denied all the allegations.
She also said that some local Awami League leaders have been inciting the agitation against her, as she was appointed during the four-party alliance government.
