Ex-mayor of KCC Tayebur gets HC bail

The High Court (HC) yesterday granted regular bail to former Khulna City Corporation (KCC) mayor Sheikh Tayebur Rahman in a graft case.
An HC bench comprising Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Rais Uddin came up with the verdict after final hearing upon a bail petition filed by Tayebur.
His lawyer Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajal told reporters that no legal bar is left for his client to get released from jail as he has now secured bail in all nine cases against him.
Tayebur was arrested on November 3 in 2007 at his Khulna residence.
SM Hafizur Rahman, an employee of KCC, filed a case with Khulna Police Station on April 14, 2008, on charge of misappropriating Tk 10 crore in different projects during his job as mayor.
