Case Against Ziaul Haq Zia
The additional district and sessions judge's court here yesterday declared six prosecution witnesses hostile in an extortion case against former state minister Ziaul Haq Zia.
The witnesses told the court that they were not aware of anything about the charge of extortion against the accused.
Judge Rustom Ali declared the witnesses hostile.
Palmchar Union Awami League President Abul Khair filed the case on April 18 in 2007 against Ziaul Haq Zia and 21 others accusing them of demanding Tk 10 lakh as toll and giving death threat two years ago.
Zia and the co-accused were present on the dock.
Later, Zia told reporters that he was implicated in false and fabricated cases with a motive of harassing and undermining him politically.
The court set June 17 for next hearing.
