Former adviser to a caretaker government Sultana Kamal, noted singer Mita Haque, artist Shishir Bhattacharya, Dhaka University Prof Fakrul Alam and former cricketer Athar Ali Khan attended the session as the validation committee members.
The aim of the session was to assure quality and ensure international standard of the award. It included meticulous assessment of the activities carried out by the participants through a formal interviewing process.
The award is an exciting self-development programme available to young people in over 120 countries equipping them with life skills to make a difference to themselves, their communities and their world.
The award, available to all young people of the age group of 14 to 25, is offered in three levels -- Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Ferdous Kazi Tamanna, a participant, said, “It's a great experience for me. This award made me realise that there is nothing called 'impossible' and if people want, they can touch the sky. The award also made me feel that I can do something for my country and for my people.”
The award began its journey in Bangladesh through formally initiating the programme in Dhaka for the students of 12 institutions on August 20 last year.
