Khaleda Zia's house

While the nation is steeped in chronic problems of power cuts for hours together in this unbearable hot climate coupled with erratic water supply, many educational institutions are being closed one after another for violent activities of a section of students and sliding law and order, there is a new issue in the national arena involving the cancellation of Khleda Zia's one taka house in the cantonment area that was allotted to her after the assassination of President Ziaur Rahman. She was also given another house in Gulshan area for use as a source of income.
Her cantonment house can be termed as a palace. Late President Ziaur Rahman was a legendary man known for honesty in all respects. The house in Gulshan would have been enough with a monthly allowance for his family's survival. But the arrangement was made for Khaleda Zia to enable her family to lead a lavish life. Anyway, after she became prime minister and her sons managed to be wealthy persons, she should have come forward voluntarily and returned the cantonment house to the state.
But what the AL government is doing to throw her in hot water for her comments on the role of the government in the BDR tragedy is a political game and this has created an opportunity for the BNP to make it a political issue. The government has issued a notice asking Khaleda Zia to leave the cantonment house within 15 days and she, through lawyers, asked the government to revoke the notice within 5 days. The BNP, along with other issues that cause sufferings to the people, will, most probably resort to street protests. That means the same story of blockade, hartal, killing, torching of vehicles etc. will be repeated, causing untold sufferings to common people and hindering all welfare activities of the state.
For the general people, the only way is to pray to the Almighty to help this nation.
