Doa for early recovery of Wajed Miah sought
Family of noted nuclear scientist Dr MA Wajed Miah, husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, sought doa from the countrymen for his early recovery.
Dr Wajed, suffering long from high blood pressure, renal failure, diabetes and asthma, has been kept under close observation at Square Hospital in the city.
“Dr Wajed Miah's family has requested people of all walks of life to pray to the Almighty Allah for his early recovery,” Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad told UNB.
Meanwhile, acting president of City Awami League MA Aziz and acting general secretary Advocate Kamrul Islam in a statement called upon people to offer special munajat after Zohr prayers today in city mosques for Wajed Miah's early recovery.
Besides, the city Awami League will arrange a doa mahfil at party office in Bangabandhu Avenue.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited her ailing husband yesterday afternoon.
The physicians on duty told journalists that Dr Wazed Mia was admitted for conducting `plural biopsy' in the morning.
“But it could not be done because of sudden development of 'cardiac arrhythmia', a senior physician said.
Hasina stayed there for some time and enquired about condition of Wajed Miah.
Earlier, Dr Wajed was flown to Singapore last March to take treatment at the National Heart Centre where he underwent angioplasty.
Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Labour and Employment Minister Engineer Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad, Health Minister Dr A F M Ruhal Haq, Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr Syed Modasser Ali and PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, among others, were present at the hospital.
