Proshika staff form human chain, ask Faruque to go
Employees of Proshika yesterday formed a human chain in front of its Human Resources Development Centre at Koitta under Saturia police station yesterday demanding removal of its Chairman Qazi Faruque Ahmed.
They also hold a rally after the human chain, formed at 11:00 am and continued to 12:00 noon. Proshika's acting directors Ashraf Uddin Biswas Kontu, Hossain and Nasir Uddin spoke at the rally.
They alleged that ASP Kazi Moniruzzaman misbehaved with them during the peaceful human chain. Denying the allegation, the ASP said "I only stopped using mike as they did not take permission for using it."
The employees demanded immediate removal of Qazi Faruque and alleged that his monetary indiscipline, political ambition and nepotism have pushed Proshika to the brink of a financial collapse.
There has been no salary increase or any new pay structure for the employees for the last ten years, they said and added that Faruque recently has moved to cut the existing salaries of several thousand employees by 25 percent.
The NGO chief also has appointed his wife, son, sister-in-law and brother-in-law to various high positions of Proshika, they alleged.
