Muggers shoot businessman, loot money
A gang of armed muggers snatched around Tk 10 lakh yesterday at Sutrapur in the capital, leaving a businessman bullet-hit.
The victim was identified as Krishna Saha, 40, owner of Grameen Auto Parts at Azmiri Plaza in Banglabazar.
Babul Saha, brother of Krishna, said a gang of three armed muggers intercepted Krishna's rickshaw at Sutrapur around 10:30am while he was going to the shop from his Banianagar residence and snatched his bag containing the money after injuring him by shooting.
Krishna was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he was undergoing treatment, police said.
Family sources at DMCH said the snatchers shot two bullets in his back as Krishna tried to resist.
Sub-Inspector Goutam Roy of Sutrapur Police Station told The Daily Star that internal conflicts among the businessmen in the area might have caused the incident.
