Passengers to be screened at ZIA
The government yesterday decided to start screening inbound airport passengers at Zia International Airport within two to three days to prevent outbreak of Swine Flu, a deadly respiratory disease that left at least 100 people killed in Mexico.
As WHO declared Swine flu as a "public health emergency of international concern" on Sunday, the National Human Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Technical Committee under the health and family welfare ministry at a meeting took the decision as a part of strengthening the regular surveillance across the country.

At the same time, training on the disease would be imparted to the health staffs and immigration officers at the airport while travel advisories would be provided to the outbound airport passengers. Messages regarding coughing etiquette would also be disseminated among the passengers, sources at the meeting said.
Though the IEDCR examines sample of influenza collecting across the country round the year, it is yet to find any change in its samples. However, the government will take the measures to prevent Swine flu caused by H1N1 strain.
