21 sued for '71 war crimes in Gaibandha, Satkhira
Twenty-two alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces have been sued for war crimes, including murder, rape and looting, in Gaibandha and Satkhira in 1971.
In Gaibandha, a case was filed with the chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on Thursday, accusing five alleged rajakars of killing six freedom fighters, torturing villagers and looting their houses at Nandina village under Gaibandha Sadar upazila during Liberation War in 1971.
The accused are Abdul Jobber, Joshijar Rahman, Abdul Wahed, Momtaz Ali Bepari of Nandiana village, and Asgar Ali of Bishnupur village.
In the case statement, the complainant Nurul Islam stated that on the night of October 18, 1971, the accused with the help of Pakistani occupation forces attacked Nandina village, raped women and looted their gold ornaments and set some houses afire.
He further said the accused in collaboration with the Pak occupation army later killed six freedom fighters.
Accepting the case, the court asked Gaibandha Sadar Police Station to investigate the case and submit a report by July 16.
Our Satkhira correspondent reported that 17 alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces were sued on Thursday for war crimes in Shyamnagar upazila in 1971.
The complainant, Abdus Sattar Gazi, son of Surman Ali Gazi of Munshiganj village in Shyamnagar upazila, filed the case with Judicial Magistrate's Court here against the accused for killing innocent people, looting their houses and setting them on fire at Munshiganj village on July 25, 1971.
The accused are Shyamnagar upazila vice-chairman Mahsin-Ul-Mulk, Mahi Uddin Gazi, Israfil Mollah and Quddus Mollah of Munshiganj village, Abdul Mazid Gazi and Ahad Ali Kha of Iswaripur village, Surat Ali Gazi, Ahmmad Ali Sheikh and Hayet Ali Gazi of Dhumghat village, Mohammad Ali Gazi, Habibullah Mollah, Ansar Ali Mollah, Mohammad ali Gazi and Majibar Rahman Gazi of Sreefalkati village, Abul Hossain of Abadchandipur, Rajat Ali Gazi of Banshipur village and Abdul Aziz of Taraniou village.
