Salam made CDA chairman
Abdus Salam, chairman of Well Group of Industry, has been made new chairman of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) yesterday.
The establishment ministry at the directive of the president gave him the contractual appointment to the post for the next two years with immediate effect, says the concerned ministry circular.
Sources said Salam is expected to take office as the new CDA chairman in a day or two, said the sources.
Salam, also treasurer of Chittagong city unit Awami League, was the party nominated candidate for one of the four city seats Chittagong-7 (Chandgaon-Boalkhali) constituency in the last general elections.
He withdrew himself from the electoral race making a room for the AL-led grand alliance candidate Mainuddin Khan Badal, executive president of Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal.
He was appointed to the post as the incumbent Chairman Shah Muhammad Akhteruddin is going into retirement today, sources added.
