US to help get back siphoned off money
US Ambassador to Bangladesh James Moriarty yesterday said the US government would give all legal cooperation to Bangladesh to get back the money laundered to foreign countries and prevent siphoning off from Bangladesh.
The assurance came when a three-member delegation led by Moriarty made a courtesy call on Attorney General (AG) Mahbubey Alam yesterday afternoon.
After the meeting the attorney general told reporters that the US ambassador told him that the US government would provide assistance to modernise the attorney general's office and also to provide training to law officers.
The attorney general said they discussed the similarities and dissimilarities in the judicial systems of the two countries.
Additional Attorney General M Enayetur Rahim and other senior state law officers were present.
