Bus catches fire as CNG cylinder explodes

A bus caught fire as its compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinder exploded in the city's Lalbagh area yesterday.
Police said at around 2:35pm a bus of Azmeri Bus Company Ltd caught fire which gutted all the seats and damaged its engine.
Sub-Inspector Motaleb Jomaddar of Kotwali Police Station said no one was injured in the fire as the passengers managed to get down from the bus immediately.
He added the bus caught fire when its CNG cylinder exploded.
Firefighters from Kotwali fire station rushed to the spot and doused the fire with the help of locals.
Locals said following the incident traffic movement was disrupted for around an hour on the road.
Police took the bus to Kotwali Police Station.
