Road accidents kill 9
At least nine people were killed and 45 others injured in separate road accidents in Rangpur, Dinajpur, Magura and Netrakona yesterday.
Our correspondent from Rangpur adds: Three female workers were killed and five others injured in a road accident at Gorerpar under Mithapukur upazila in the district yesterday.
They were identified as Minara, Hazera and Bilkis. They died on the spot. The injured people were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Witnesses and police said the accident occurred when a covered van of a pharmaceutical company hit a rickshaw van from behind on Rangpur-Bogra highway, leaving day labourer Minara, Hazera and Bilkis dead on the spot and five others injured.
OUR CORRESPONDENT from Dinajpur adds: At least two women were killed and 40 others injured in a road accident at Kawgamore in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The dead were identified as Nazmun Nahar, 40, of Newtown area under Dinajpur Sadar upazila and an unidentified woman.
Police quoting locals said two crowded passenger buses collided head on at Kawgamore on Dinajpur-Gobindganj highway, leaving one unidentified woman aged about 50 dead on the spot.
Later, locals rushed the injured to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital in cooperation of the fire fighters of Dinajpur.
UNB from Magura reports: Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.
Police and witnesses said Abul Kashem, 45, was run over by a speeding truck when he was crossing Magura-Jhenidah road at Alamkhali at about 12:00noon.
In another accident, Abul Khayer, 40, was crushed under the wheels of a good-laden truck on Magura-Jessore road at Shimakhali at about 1:00pm.
Earlier, Chaitanya Mondal died on the spot when a covered van hit him at Ramnagar on Magura-Kamarkhali road.
Our correspondent from Netrakona says: A schoolboy was killed in a road accident on Netrakona-Kendua road at Noahati under Kendua upazila in the district yesterday.
The dead was identified as Mansur Mortuza, 9, son of Ahmed Mortuza of village Noahati under Kendua upazila. Family sources said Mansur was the student of class three of Noahati Govt Primary School.
Police and local people said the accident occurred at about 9:00am when Mansur was going to school. a Kishoreganj-bound passenger bus from Netrakona knocked down Mansur, leaving him dead on the spot.
A case was filed with Kendua Police Station in this connection.
