NDI keen to arrange orientation for MPs
The Washington-based National Democratic Institute (NDI) has expressed its interest in organising an orientation course for the newly elected members of parliament (MPs), as many of them are first-timers.
A discussion to this effect was held between NDI Senior Resident Director Jacqueline Corcoran and Chief Whip Abdus Shahid at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban yesterday.
“Matters relating to Rules of Procedure and other parliamentary affairs came up for discussion,” said a news release.
The chief whip also laid emphasis on training and increased cooperation of international organisations to enhance knowledge and expertise level of the MPs to make the ninth parliament effective.
Among others, Whip ASM Firoz, NDI Senior Adviser Nasim Firdaus and Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Ashfaque Hamid were present.
