111 lose deposit in Pabna, Lalmonirhat
A total of 111 contestants have lost their deposits in upazila (UZ) elections in Pabna and Lalmonirhat districts, election office (EC) sources said.
Ninty candidates lost deposits in nine upazilas under Pabna district for failure to bag one-eighth of cast votes, reports our correspondent .
Of them, 46 were chairman candidates, 36 vice chairman candidates and eight female vice chairman candidates.
In Pabna Sadar upazila, six were chairman candidates, five were vice chairman candidates and one was female vice chairman candidate. In Chatmohar upazila, 10 were chairman candidates, nine were vice chairman candidates and three were female vice chairman candidates.
In Vangura upazila, four were chairman candidates and four were vice chairman candidates. In Faridpur upazila, three were chairman candidates, two were vice chairman candidates and two were female vice chairman candidates. In Ishwardi upazila, five were chairman candidates, five were vice chairman candidates and one was female vice chairman candidates.
In Santhia upazila, one was chairman candidate. In Bera upazila, seven were chairman candidates and two were vice chairman candidates. In Sujanagar upazila, eight were chairman candidates and two were vice chairman candidates. In Atghoria upazila, two were chairman candidates, four were vice chairman candidates and one was female vice chairman candidates.
A correspondent reports from Lalmonirhat: Twenty-one candidates who contested for chairmanship and vice- chairmanship at five upazilas have lost their security deposits, EC sources said.
Of them, 16 were chairman candidates, four vice-chairman (male) candidates and one female vice-chairman candidate.
