Road crashes kill two, injure 28
At least two people were killed and 28 others injured in separate road accidents in Gopalganj, Gaibandha and Rajshahi yesterday.
A correspondent from Gopalganj says: One person was killed when a truck collided head-on with a Nasiman on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Majra of Kashiani on Saturday night.
The dead was identified as Ripon Munshi, 40. Ripon died on the spot while Shapan Hawladar, 30, was seriously injured.
Ripon hailed from Binatpur village of Shariatpur district.
Our correspondent from Gaihandha reports: One person was killed and 17 others were injured when a Gaibandha-bound speedy bus turned upside down and fell in to a roadside ditch at Mahdipur on Bogra-Gaibandha road yesterday.
The accident occurred when driver of the bus lost his control over the steering, leaving one Saiful Islam, 32, dead on the spot and 17 other passengers injured. Of the injured, 10 were rushed to Rangpur Medical College in critical condition.
RU correspondent from Rajshahi adds: At least 10 businessmen were injured, eight of them critically, in a road accident on Godagari-Chapainawabganaj highway in Sadipur area under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi yesterday.
The injured were identified as Shafiqul Islam, 42, Mohidul, 35, Astom Chandra Ghosh, 35, Asit Chandra Ghosh, 40, Narayan Chandra Ghosh, 40, Madhop Chandra Ghosh, 28, Imrat Ali, 26, and Azabul 20.
The seriously injured were under going treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
Police said the accident occurred when a speeding Chapainawabganj-bound Dhaka Coach and a Rajshahi-bound pickup loaded with curd collided head-on in Sadipur area, leaving 10 curd businessmen injured.
Godagari police recovered the damaged pickup from the highway.
