2 secretaries made OSD
The government in an important decision yesterday made two secretaries and director general of Islamic Foundation officer on special duty (OSD), says an official announcement.
The OSD officials include Jute and Textile Secretary Md Abdur Rashid Sarkar, Land Secretary Abu Md Moniruzzaman and Bangladesh Islamic Foundation DG (Additional Secretary) Md Fazlur Rahman.
The reasons behind making the officials OSD could not be known. Their services have been placed under the establishment ministry.
POLICE ADMIN
In its first move after assuming office, the government also reshuffled in the root level of police administration yesterday with approval from the Election Commission (EC).
As per the reshuffle, an assistant superintendent of police and five inspectors have been transferred, while 21 sub-inspectors were promoted to inspector posts and given new postings.
According to the Local Government (Upazila Parishad) Election Rules-2008, the government will not be able to transfer DC, SP, UNO and officials working under them in the respective upazilas without any consultation with the EC from the date of declaration of polls schedule to 15 days after announcement of the results.
The police headquarters wrote a letter to the EC informing the transfer and promotion and the EC yesterday gave the permission.
BSMMU
A total of six administrative employees of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) were made OSD yesterday that led to the government's latest development in the administrative shake-up.
Those who were made OSD include deputy registrars FM Rafikul Islam Bachchu and Dr Saifuddin Nisar Ahmed, assistant superintendents Dr Hasnat Ahsan Shumon and Dr Mizanur Rahman and assistant directors (finance and accounting) Khondoker Shafikul Hasan and Nasiruddin Bhuiyan.
BSMMU Vice Chancellor Prof Nazrul Islam said the authorities found it important to make them OSD for the sake of BSMMU. So, such a decision was taken under the university regulation.
“The steps were taken to bring a qualitative change in the university,” he added.
