Rare black vulture finally flies away
The large black vulture that was under the care of Madhupur Forest Department in Tangail recovered strength and flew away yesterday.
The bird of the near-extinct species was captured on January 6 and was being looked after at the Madhupur National Park forest department for a few days.
Rabindranath Adhikari, assistant conservator of forest, Tangail, told The Daily Star yesterday that the bird took meals regularly and recovered its strength. Yesterday afternoon the vulture flew on to the roof of a building in the park. It stayed there for an hour or so and moved to a tree branch.
It took off from there later on.
