Dr Ibrahim wins Prix Caritas Award
Dr Muhammad Ibrahim, founder and director of the Centre for Mass Education in Science (CMES), has been awarded the Prix Caritas Award 2009 by Caritas Switzerland, says a press release.
"By awarding you the Prix Caritas, we want to show our recognition and appreciation of your pioneering and innovative work as the founder and director of CMES. You have combined basic education, character building and vocational training in such a remarkable and extraordinary way that children from diverse socially difficult backgrounds are given a real chance of a decent future," said Hugo Fasel, director of Caritas Switzerland, in a letter to Dr Ibrahim.
Prix Caritas carries a cash award to the value of 10,000 Swiss francs (about 8,700 US dollars).
The award giving ceremony will be held at Lucerne in Switzerland on June 5. A leading member of Swiss parliament will give away the award in presence of 800 guests -- representative of science, politics, culture and the media.
