7 killed in road accidents
Seven people were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in Bogra and Satkhira yesterday.
Staff correspondent in Bogra reports: Five people were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in the district yesterday.
Among them, four were killed when a speeding truck knocked them down while they were waiting on the roadside after their truck went out of order at Bhober Bazar at about 6:00am.
The dead were identified as Sarwar Hossain, 35, Matiur Rahman, 47, Abdur Razzak, 40, and Shahjahan Ali, 42.
Police said two of them died on the spot while the other two succumbed to their injuries at hospital.
Witnesses said the truck ran them over due to dense fog.
In another accident, Chand Miah was killed when another truck hit him at about 8:00am at Baiguni Joybhogh at Gabtali upazila.
Our correspondent in Satkhira adds: Two people were killed in a road accident at Bhomra land port in Satkhira yesterday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Abdur Razzak, 45, a transport worker, and Shahidul Islam, 32, a porter who worked at Bhomra land port.
The accident occurred when a loaded Indian truck dashed a standing Bangladeshi truck from behind and crushed the victims, who were standing nearby, under its wheels.
