Chhana O Muktijuddha sees light of day after a decade
"Chhana o Muktijuddha" a film for children based on the Liberation War, was released in DVD recently. The film, directed by Badal Rahman, is a production of Bangladesh Shishu Academy.
Although the shooting of the film started ten years ago, in 1998, it could not be released due some bureaucratic roadblocks. Recently the Home Ministry gave clearance to the film.
At the launching ceremony, Adviser for Cultural Affairs Rasheda K Chowdhury was present as the chief guest. Inaugurating the film, she noted the film would help motivate the children to learn about our Liberation War. Noted children litterateur and writer of "Chhana O Muktijuddha," Anwara Syed Haq; director Badal Rahman; Director of Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Shaoli Sumon and popular actress Afsana Mimi also spoke at the event.
The cast of the film includes Amirul Islam; Shireen Bakul; Afsana Mimi; Intekhab Dinar; Pantha Shahriar; Badal Rahman and Pratik. Child artiste Pratik, who played the eponymous character role of Chhana in the film, has now joined the armed forces. Lux superstar Munmun was another child artiste of the film. Pankaj Palit is the cinematographer of the 120-minute film.
