BMTF rolls out parking lift project
Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Ltd (BMTF), a commercial venture operated by Bangladesh Army, yesterday launched a project to make eco-parking machine jointly with a Japanese firm.
The main feature of the machine, or you can say a parking lift, is that it requires no electricity to operate and can accommodate two cars at a double deck on a minimum. The easily portable device can be set anywhere like market place, apartment and office spaces.
“This parking machine is very suitable for Bangladesh as the country's busiest cities are facing acute space shortage,” Major General Anup Kumar Chakma, the master general, Ordnance, told the launching programme in Dhaka.
The length, width and height of the parking lift is 4.5, 2.0 and 3.6 meter respectively.
This machine can lift a car within 1.45 minutes and release it in only 45 seconds.
BMTF Managing Director Major General Mominur Rahman said initially the production of per unit parking machine would cost Tk 6 lakh, but the cost will come down gradually.
The BMTF top official also laid bare his organisation's plan to manufacture 140 units of such machines in 2009 and 1300 units a year later.
Japan's Daiei International Ltd will provide technical support to the BMTF in this regard. Technicians and engineers from Daiei will supervise the manufacture process round the clock.
Earlier, Daiei signed an agreement with Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone to set up such a machine manufacturing industry in the EPZ with an investment of US$ 3.72 million.
This plant has targeted to make 1,300 units for export purpose. The company will also create employment opportunity for 341 Bangladeshi and 10 foreign nationals.
