Special steamer service on Eid

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) has arranged an 11-day special steamer service in addition to normal service on Dhaka-Barisal-Khulna routes on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha.
Fare of BIWTC vessels would remain same as before. Of the fair, Tk 565 for one first class cabin seat, Tk 355 for one second class cabin seat and Tk 95 for each deck seat would be collected from passengers of Dhaka-Barisal-Dhaka route in single trip.
Khalid Newaz, assistant general manager of BIWTC Barisal station, said the special steamer service will begin operation from December 4 and continue until December 15.
The registration for booking of first and second class passenger cabins of the steamers scheduled to ply on special service began on Sunday.
PS Ostrich, PS Lepcha, PS Mahsud, PS Turn and MV Shela will carry passengers on this route according to their respective schedules during the period.
One regular and one special steamer will start their journey from Dhaka in the evening on December 4, the sources added.
Besides, PS Ostrich will leave Barisal at 6.30pm on December 4 for Khulna and special steamer PS Lepcha will leave Dhaka at 7:00pm on the same evening for Hularhut via Barisal.
A special steamer MV Shela will leave Dhaka for Morelganj and PS Turn for Barisal on December 5.
On other hand, regular steamer PS Lepcha will leave Dhaka for Morelganj and PS Turn for Barisal on December 6 evening.
PS Mashud for Khulna, PS Ostrich and PS Turn for Barisal will leave Dhaka on the night of December 7. PS Ostrich will leave Dhaka for Khulna and PS Turn for Barisal on December 8.
On December 9, the Eid day, PS Lepcha will leave Dhaka for Morelganj and on December 10 PS Turn will leave Dhaka for Khulna via Barisal.
PS Ostrich will leave Dhaka for Khulna and MV Shela for Morelganj via Barisal on December 11 and these same vessels would leave their last ports for Dhaka on return trip on next day December 12.
Besides, BIWTC will operate sea-truck ST Khijir-2 from Barisal BIWTA ghat as usual, official sources said.
ST Khijir-8 will run from Barisal to Maju Chowdhurir Hat and ST Khijir-7 from Ilisha to Maju Chowdhurir Hat regularly during the period, the sources added.
