BCL threatens to lay siege to syndicate meet today
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Rajshahi University unit yesterday submitted a memorandum to the acting vice chancellor demanding cancellation of the mass recruitment at the university ahead of general election.
Sources said the university authorities are likely to confirm jobs of around 200 'controversially-appointed' fourth class employees at a syndicate meeting today violating university rules and University Grants Commission (UGC) embargo.
BCL announced that they would lay a siege to the syndicate meeting today protecting the mass recruitment.
BCL led by its university unit General Secretary Ayeen Uddin met acting VC Prof Mamnunul Keramat at his office and demanded immediate cancellation of the mass recruitment.
They also submitted a memorandum and requested him to refrain himself from mass recruitment.
The BCL also threatened to enforce tougher movement, including strike on the campus, if their demand was not met.
