Workshop on anti-trafficking intervention
A two-day regional workshop on rights-based approach in anti-trafficking intervention was held at Brac Centre Inn in the city yesterday.
As part of its consortium project titled 'Developing a rights-based approach in anti-trafficking intervention in South Asia', Terre Des Hommes International Foundation organised the event to share experience at regional level and to formulate a common core of recommendations for future actions to combat human trafficking in South Asia.
Co-financed by the European Commission, the project, started in 2006, is being implemented in Bangladesh, India and Nepal for promoting a rights-based approach in the development of legal and social measures to combat internal and cross-border trafficking with a particular attention to the rescue, recovery and rehabilitation of the victims.
Sara Piazzano, country representatives of Teere Des Hommes in Bangladesh, welcomed the participants while Massimo Lanciotti, Asia programme manager of Teere Des Hommes-Italy, gave an introduction of the project, stressing its regional perspective and integrated approach.
