2-day eye care programme at Bhairab
A two-day eye care programme for the visually impaired people began at a village hospital in Bhairab yesterday.
The programme is organised by Singapore Airlines while specialist eye surgeons from the Singapore National University Hospital and Bangladesh Eye Hospital will examine the patients, says a press release.
The programme is being officiated by Consul of Singapore Tan Kok Nam.
Eye-See-The-World is running the 2nd year of the project in Bangladesh providing screening, treatment and surgery for the affected people bringing together specialists from Singapore and Bangladesh.
The equipment for the project are provided by the Bangladesh Eye Hospital and Alcon Bangladesh.
A total of 100 patients will be treated during the two-day camp.
Besides, a group of surgeons will also conduct operation for ear, nose and throat diagnosis treatment and cleft lip surgery. The team is expecting to examine 15-20 such patients.
ENT Care Centre, Cosmetic Surgery Centre Ltd, Popular Pharmaceuticals and Asiatic Marketing Communications Ltd are also partners of the event.
A seminar will also be held for postgraduate students and doctors in Ophthalmology on November 9 to share their experiences and views.
