Faridpur Udichi holds 8th conference

Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Ghosthi, Faridpur unit held its 8th district conference at Faridpur Ainjibi Samity Bhaban recently.
With the slogan "Jege uthuk praan natun shurjer ahobaney," the conference was inaugurated by noted theatre personality Mannan Hira. Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi's central committee member Maruf Rahman attended the event as special guest.
At the opening session, Dr. Sushanto Kumar Biswas, convenor of the conference; Professor Shipra Roy; Abul Fayez Shah Newaz; Mitu Chowdhury; Advocate Bishawjit Ganguli; Advocate Subal Chandra Saha; Abu Sufian Chowdhury Kusal; Shawkat Ali Zahid; Asma Akter Mukta and Shamima Shimu spoke at the programme with cultural personality Siraj-e-Kabir Khokon in the chair.
Speakers at the function conveyed that Udichi will boldly carry on its cultural movement against all kinds of aggression and fanaticism in the country. They expressed deep concern over the removal of the 'baul sculpture' from in front of the Zia International Airport. They also demanded the re-installment of the sculpture.
In the council, Dr Shushanto Kumar Biswas and Advocate Touhidul Islam Stalin were elected president and secretary respectively.
The cultural programme included 'gono sangeet,' dance and recitation. Artistes of Udichi's Faridpur district unit and Bhanga upazila unit performed at the function.
