Non-brand edible oil prices rise
Prices of non-brand edible oil increased by Tk 5-10 per litre in city markets in the last three days.
Retailers alleged that a section of mill owners in collusion with some businessmen have created an artificial crisis of oil targeting the upcoming Eid-ul Azha.
Soya bean oil was sold for Tk 103-105 a kg yesterday at Karwan Bazar while it was Tk 98-100 three days ago.
The price of super palm oil yesterday stood at Tk 80-85 per litre which was Tk70-75 three days back.
Price of palm oil went up by Tk 10 per litre. It was sold for Tk 70-72 per litre yesterday, which was Tk 60-62 three days ago.
Some wholesale traders at Moulvibazar in the city alleged that a group of businessmen with the help of a syndicate raised the prices of edible oil in the capital to make extra profit.
A wholesale trader at Moulvibazar said the price of soya bean oil increased by Tk 100 per maund while the prices of palm and super palm oil went up by Tk 300 a maund.
