Silver jubilee celebration of Gonoshilpi Shangstha begins
‘Gonoshilpi Shangshtha', Pabna a leading cultural organisation in the district, organised a musical programme of songs of yesteryears in the district headquarters on October 30. Artistes performed the popular songs of the 60s and 70s at the programme.
A three month long programme marked the silver jubilee celebrations of the organisation.
Earlier, speakers on the occasion focused on the essence of the songs of the 60s and 70s. President of Pabna Gonoshilpi Sangshtha and principal of Pabna Govt. Bulbul College, Professor Shibojit Nag; secretary of the organisation, Advocate Moshfeka Jahan Konika; vice president of the organisation, Mahabubul Alam Liton, Vaskar Choudhuri, Biplob Voumik and Nasrin Sultana Shelley spoke among others at the programme.
The speakers stressed the importance of the memorable songs of the two decades in question. “Most of the songs of the two decades or before that time are obviously rich in values. The moral tones of these songs have always given us lessons. These are the assets of our culture,” speakers told on the occasion.
The speakers also urged that these songs be preserved as they are our cultural assets. “It is high time to restore the old values. We are losing our cultural heritage owing to so called modernisation. But we must remember that we have a glorious past. All the songs and literary works of the 60s or 70s or even earlier are a mirror of the socio cultural heritage we are heir to. So we have to preserve all these assets,” the speakers said at the programme.
Later, local artistes and members of the organisation rendered the old songs. Prominent artistes and teachers of the organisation performed at the programme.
The artistes rendered romantic songs, 'Gonosangeet' and other melodious songs. It may be mentioned that the performance of yesteryear songs was held for the first time in Pabna this year. The event was enjoyed by a fairly large gathering.
“Gonoshilpi Shangshtha' will organise more such programmes. Folk musical festival and street theatre would be staged next marking the three month long anniversary programme,” said Biplob Voumik, former secretary of the organisation.
