Mayor Mohiuddin goes to Bangkok for treatment tomorrow
Chittagong City Corporation Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury leave for Bangkok tomorrow for medical treatment.
Family sources said the CCC mayor, who has been suffering from various diseases, including diabetes and complications of heart and eyes, will take treatment at a hospital in Thai capital.
Mohiuddin Chowdhury, who was going through an ordeal as he was not allowed to resume his position as CCC mayor after his recent release on bail, will also go to Saudi Arabia to perform Omrah after completing treatment, the sources added.
Mohiuddin was released on October 8 on bail from the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
He, however, could not hold his scheduled meeting with the CCC councilors at the City Corporation Bhaban on October 15 due to a government order restraining him from resuming his duty.
M Manjur Alam was made acting mayor after Mohiuddin's arrest from his Chashma Hill residence in the city on March 7, 2007 as part of an anti-graft campaign by the military-backed interim government.
