Lions Service Week begins today
The Lions Clubs International District 315 B3, Bangladesh will observe Lions Service Week across the country from today.
Since the first conference of Lions Club was held in Dallas in the USA on October 8, 1917, the month of October has been being observed as the Lions Service Month and one of the weeks of the month as Lions Service Week.
Lions Service Week programmes include setting up eye camps, dental camps, voluntary blood donation programme, distributing white canes among visually impaired people and heath awareness programmes.
Advocate Md Harun-ur Rashid, chairman of District 315 B3, Bangladesh, Lions Clubs International, at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters' Unity in the city yesterday announced the programmes.
He added that this year's programme will stand by around 15000 destitute people in the country.
