Local Govt Commission to start functioning November 1

The Local Government Commission (LGC) will start functioning from November 1 after completion of its formation this month.
The summary of the commission's formation has already been sent to the president through the chief adviser for final approval.
The salaries and allowances of the chairman and members of the commission have already been finalised with the approval of the finance ministry by making adjustment with other commissions.
Adviser for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Md Anwarul Iqbal said the procedure of LGC's formation has almost been completed.
As the secretary level committee has given its opinion, the commission would be able to start functioning from November this year, he said.
The president on May 11 last promulgated the Local Government Commission Ordinance 2008 for formation of the Local Government Commission to ensure dynamism, accountability and effectiveness in the local government system.
