Ex-lawmaker Abul Hossain acquitted in arms case
The High Court (HC) yesterday acquitted former BNP lawmaker Abul Hossain Khan who was earlier sentenced to seven years' imprisonment in a case filed against him on charges of possessing illegal arms.
After hearing an appeal filed by Abul Hossain Khan against the conviction by the trial court in Barisal, an HC bench comprising Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Farid Ahmed passed the order.
The case was filed with Bakerganj Police Station on February 16 last year.
On May 24, 2007, Divisional Special Sessions Judge's Court, Barisal, punished the former BNP lawmaker on charges of keeping illegal arms.
Abul Hossain Khan later filed an appeal with the HC against the trial court judgment.
Advocate Afzal H Khan appeared for the ex-BNP MP.
