Tk 15 lakh goods gutted at Ashuganj fertiliser factory
A devastating fire gutted the sales-office of Ashuganj Zia Fertliazer Company Limited (ZFCL) yesterday.
According to police and ZFCL sources, a fire originating form an electric short circuit at about 3:15 pm engulfed a tin-shed building of the sales office of the factory of ZFCL.
The short circuit occurred when workers were repairing old air coolers (ACs) of the factory near the tin-shed building, far away from the main fetiliser factory.
On information, fire fighters and police headed by Ashuganj thana OC Uttam Chakrabarti rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire in about an hour.
Most of office files and documents and other goods including spares and the whole tin-shed were gutted. ZFCL estimated that property worth about Tk 15 lakh was gutted.
When contacted, ZFCL Managing Director Md. Osman Guni said the main installations were not damaged as the tin-shed is completely isolated.
A five member probe body headed by General Manager Babu Shubash Chandra was formed to probe the incident.
