Remove pro-BNP KHDC chairman, members
Leaders of district Awami League yesterday demanded immediate removal of Khagrachhari Hill District Council (KHDC) chairman and four members for their alleged involvement with BNP-Jamaat politics and trying to influence voters.
In a memorandum submitted to Chief Advisor Fakruddin Ahmed through Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner AKM Khairul Alam, they said the chairman and councillors recently distributed Tk 12 crore food grains among BNP-Jamaat leaders, activists or supporters, which can influence next parliamentary election.
The last BNP-Jamaat government appointed district BNP advisor Monindra Lal Tripura as chairman and upazila BNP Vice President Animesh Dewan Nandith, district Jubo Dal Organizing Secretary Sanu Mong Marma, Mohalchhari upazila BNP Vice President Ruhity Karbari and district Jamaat leader Abu Bakar Siddik as interim period councillors, said the memo.
The chairman and councillors have misappropriated government fund by showing fake, false and fabricated projects, it said, adding that they are trying to influence voters by distributing thousands of lungi, saree and other clothes among BNP-Jamaat men.
As the five persons are involved with the management of 24 important government offices, they will try to influence the coming polls, it added.
They demanded cancellation of all processing for appointment at 24 departments under KHDC, postponing allotment of food grains and inviting of tender under it. They urged the government to appoint impartial persons in KHDC.
District Awami League President Zatindra Lal Tripura and Secretary Mohammad Zahedul Alam jointly signed the memo.
