RMCH interns call off strike

Intern doctors of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) called off their strike on Thursday following an assurance of fulfillment of their demand.
They went on strike on Thursday protesting delay in publishing results of 44th batch of MBBS examinees.
'We have called off strike following an assurance from the authorities concerned. But if our demand is not met by October 21 then we shall restart our strike from October 22," said Mehedi Hassan Tomal, an intern.
He said, 30 interns have to work for 16 hours a day. Many of them become sick due to hard labour, he said. If the result of 44th batch of MBBS examinees is published then 150 more interns will join us thereby lessening our hard labour, he said.
When contacted, RMCH director Brig Gen Khademul Insan Muhammad Iqbal said we have requested the college principal to take necessary steps for publishing result of the 44th batch of examinees within October 20.
