3 babies drown in Khagrachhari
Three indigenous children, two of them sisters, drowned in the Chenghi river at Betchhari village in Sadar upazila yesterday.
They are Chayanika Chakma, 7, Nanditha Chakma, 12, both daughters of Anutosh Chakma and Suporna Chakma, 10, daughter of Shisirmoy Chakma, family sources said.
They went to the river to collect snails for their ducks. Suddenly, Chayanika slipped and swept away in the river. Two others jumped in the river in a bid to rescue her but they too drowned.
On information, police and locals jointly rescued the bodies and sent those to Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital for post mortem.
