Korean team visits Ruppur N Project site
A seven-member Korean delegation yesterday visited Ruppur Nuclear Project site in Ishwardi upazila to conduct a feasibility study, officials said.
Ambassador of Republic of Korea in Bangladesh Park Suk Burn Park led the team. Other members were Hwang Soo Don, general manager of Nuclear Industry Department, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Ryu Byung Kie, manager of Overseas Department, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Company, Joo In Soo, GM of Korea Power Engineering Company, Choi Shun, principal researcher for Small and Medium Reactor Technology Development Division of Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Park 2, councilor and deputy chief of mission of the Korean embassy and Cho MG, MD of DAEWOO (Bangladesh) Company Limited.
Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) chairman Dr Shafiqul Islam, director Dr Shwakat accompanied the visiting team.
Ruppur Nuclear Project was undertaken in 1966 to produce power. Over 260 acres of lands were acquired and infrastructure including office and residences were built on 33 acres.
