3 killed in road accidents
Three people were killed and 14 others injured in separate road accidents in Chandpur and Habiganj in the last two days.
Our correspondent in Chandpur reports: Two people were killed and four others injured in a road accident in the district on Thursday afternoon.
The accident occurred when a three-wheeler collided head-on with a microbus on Hajiganj-Ramganj road at Sheikhpura under Hajiganj upazila.
The dead were identified as Md Shahadat, 25, and the driver of the three-wheeler Noor-e-Alam, 27.
The injured were admitted to a private clinic in Hajiganj Sadar but later referred to Pangu Hospital in Dhaka.
In another accident, ten people were injured in a road accident on Chandpur-Comilla regional highway near Aliganj under Hajiganj upazila yesterday.
The accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound bus from Chandpur and a Chandpur-bound covered van collided head-on and the bus fell into a roadside ditch.
The injured were rushed to Aliganj Health Complex.
BSS adds: A motorcyclist was run over by a Dhaka-bound passenger bus on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Titarkona under Bahubal upazila in Habiganj yesterday.
The accident took place when Alhaj Shamim Ahmed, a businessman of Puran Bazar of Shayestaganj, was hit by the bus while he was going to his business place on a motorcycle from Mirpur.
Police arrested the driver at Laskarpur and seized the bus.
