2 Barisal WDB engrs held for misappropriating public fund

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Barisal office yesterday arrested two engineers of Water Development Board (WDB) for misappropriating public fund.
The arrested were identified as sub-assistant engineers Barisal M Babul Akhter, 44, and M Abdul Barek, 51.
MH Rahamatullah, deputy assistant director of Barisal ACC and investigation officer of the case, said Babul Akhter and Abdul Barek were arrested for misappropriating Tk 4.50 lakh during the 2004-05 fiscal showing fake project documents.
Earlier, ACC collected information about huge ill-gotten wealth of the two accused and filed a case against them with Bakerganj Police Station on February 28.
ACC called them at its Barisal office to discuss their case but later they were arrested.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court sent the two engineers to jail rejecting their bail prayers in the evening.
