UP chairman murdered in Satkhira

A union parishad (UP) chairman was killed by unidentified assailants at his house at Dhandia under Tala upazila early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Dhandia UP Chairman Arifuzzaman Chanchal, 35.
Police said the assailants stormed into his house at night and strangulated him to death. Later, they threw the body into a pond and fled the scene.
The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately.
Police held five people suspecting their involvement with the killing.
