Right to Information Forum has congratulated the government for approving the Right to Information (RTI) Ordinance 2008.
In a statement on Wednesday, forum Convenor Shaheen Anam termed it a landmark decision of the government.
The forum hoped that the government will soon form an independent and powerful information commission. The forum is also ready to extend all-out cooperation to the government at every stage of the implementation of the ordinance.
The forum also hoped that this ordinance will help ensure the right to information for the people at grassroots level.
Besides, the culture of providing information will increase the transparency and accountability of the government, it added.
