JICA, JBIC join hands to continue support
Labour and Employment Adviser Anwarul Iqbal said Wednesday that he hoped Bangladesh would further benefit from Japanese assistance in the future in sectors such as power and telecommunication.
Being the country's largest bilateral development partner, Japan has long been contributing to Bangladesh's infrastructure development through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Official Development Assistance of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
Iqbal's aspiration for further cooperation came as JICA and JBIC decided to work in Dhaka as a single entity to use its assistance more efficiently.
At a function at a city hotel, it was disclosed that the two bodies will work together from next month to provide comprehensive assistance over aid instruments, technical cooperation, loans and grant aid.
