Month long agitation to save Nazrul Academy
A month long agitation programme was announced yesterday to save the Nazrul Academy in Sylhet from land grabbers.
The programme, announced at a press conference held at the academy, includes mass signature campaign from September 24, meetings with professional groups and cultural activists, sending memorandums to the land advisor, law advisor and to foreign affairs advisor on October 5, human chain in front of the academy on October 16 and sit-in in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on October 20.
Acting president of the academy Syed Misabhuddin announced the programme. Former lawmaker Syed Zebunnesa Haque also spoke.
They said the academy has been running its activities for 16 years on the government allotted building. A gang of land grabbers, in connivance with a section of corrupt land officials are trying to occupy the land.
