Smuggled timber seized: 6 arrested

Kalmakanda Police seized 800 cubic feet (CFT) of smuggled Indian Sagun timber worth about Tk 8 lakh from the bank of the Kongsha at Kailati village in Kalmakanda upazila yesterday, police said.
Police also arrested six timber smugglers from the spot, they said.
After being smuggled from India, the timbers were destined for Sunamganj district through an engine boat.
On information, police rushed to the spot and seized the timbers and arrested the smugglers.
A gang of criminals are engaged in smuggling timbers here for a long time, police said.
