RU controversial staffs keep acting VC confined for five hours
Some 200 'controversially-appointed' fourth-class employees of Rajshahi University (RU) yesterday kept the acting vice chancellor confined to his office for about five hours demanding regularisation of their jobs.
The agitating employees staged a sit-in in front of the office of acting VC Prof Mamnunul Keramat at the administrative building from 12:00 noon to 5:30pm.
They also demanded payment of dearness allowance and Eid bonus.
The employees also kept the office locked for about one hour and chanted slogans against the acting VC and others high officials of the university, campus sources said.
In the morning, they brought out a procession on the campus and met Proctor Enamul Haque and Student Adviser Faridul Islam Pintu separately and called on the RU authorities to meet their demands.
